About Mouthpiece Guy

Mouthpiece Guy Boxing Experience

Jeff Darr, the founder of Mouthpiece Guy LLC, was using mouthpieces in combat sports long before he actually started making them. As a boxer, fighting from 1994 to 2009, he knows what it's like to get up in the ring and take punches. That's where our slogan, "For Fighters, By Fighters" comes from!

Jeff completed the dental technology program at Riverside Community College in 1996. As a full time dental laboratory technician (now with over 40,000 hours of real world dental lab experience) Jeff made his first custom mouthpiece for himself in 1999 while working for a dental lab in Riverside, CA. In 2003, he opened his own dental lab making porcelain crowns and bridges for dentist all over Southern California, and made mouthpieces just as a hobby for friends and family at the boxing gym. This "hobby" soon grew to something much larger than Jeff ever expected. After 10 years of making custom fit mouthpieces as a side job, Jeff sold his dental lab business to pursue a career of making mouthpieces full time as "the Mouthpiece Guy" in July of 2014.

With his years of experience as a boxer and the technique and training of a master dental technician, Jeff built Mouthpiece Guy LLC from the ground up. In the early stages, while developing his own style for the best fit and maximum protection, Jeff would make a mouthpiece for himself at work during the day, and would go to the gym at night to test it out in sparring. He continued to conduct what we now call "Ring Tests" until he developed a true mastery of custom fit mouthpieces.

Jeff runs Mouthpiece Guy full time with a team based in Covina, CA. Follow us on Instagram to see what Jeff is working on and to stay updated!

Our "Ring Tests" have truly put our company at the top of the list when it comes to fit, comfort, and protection. We believe that knowing first hand exactly how the mouthpiece is going to perform during combat is essential! Now at the age of 39, hard sparring isn’t something our owner enjoys as much as he used to, but his last Ring Test was conducted in the spring of 2017.

While you shop around for custom mouthpieces, ask yourself, "Do they actually use and test their own products themselves?" And it might be good to ask what kind of experience they have as trained, knowledgeable dental technicians. Don't trust your health and safety to someone who has little or no dental laboratory experience. You'll end up regretting it later when you have to pay an expensive dentist bill!

Questions? Read our   FAQs or   Contact Us , then head over to the Shop and get yourself a custom mouthpiece! Don't wait any longer, your teeth and brain cells will thank you. ;)

CAUTION!

In the shipping options at checkout, carefully review each "FITTING OPTION" before making your selection.
